A VHDL-implementation of my
magnetic hysteresis
model is used to add saturation effects to audio signals
in real time making it possible to emulate magnetic tapes
and side effects of coils and transformers in analog audio
signal paths. The model runs with surprisingly low resource
usage and has full coverage of the typical effects though.
It shows a deviation of less than 5% from the measured
behavior of classical ferromagnetic materials, as described
here:
