Introduction to tube distortion This site shows a dataflow for a tube modeling algorithm I created some time ago to emulate microphones and amplifiers operating with vacuum tubes. It is not a physical modeling algorithm but intends to model the function of the device in terms of compression, saturation, distortion and equalizing. Several paths exist which are treated in different ways to perform the required operation. Inspiration has been taken form oscilloscope views and audio comparison as well as doing some research in the behavior of vacuum tubes.
A current DSP platform is used to test the algorithms.
C-Code is available! Conclusion and Summary DSPs can be used to emulate tube behavior.
